Venous retinal occlusion is a thrombosis of a retinal vein causing sudden, painless vision loss. It may affect the central vein (CRVO) or a branch (BRVO).
Rapid management to preserve vision
Macular oedema resulting from venous occlusion progressively destroys photoreceptors if left untreated. Anti-VEGF intravitreal injections must be initiated promptly. Any sudden vision loss requires urgent consultation — chat directly with Dr Gozlan for management within 24-48 hours.
